Find what your child needs in our Play Differently Special Needs Ministry

We’re excited to offer the Play Differently Sensory Room to provide families of kids with all abilities with a space for hope, healing, and connection. The Sensory Room is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to help regulate a child’s sensory system and their motor system.

  • Open Sundays at 9am and 11am during services.

Contact Lisa Schmidt for any questions about the Play Differently Special Needs Ministry.

Pre-Registration

Children need to be registered a minimum of 10 days prior to your visit, to ensure that our staff has adequate time to find just the right buddy to connect with your child.

Buddy System

The first step, is to match up your child with a volunteer who will be able to meet their needs on a one-on-one basis. Each week your child attends, we work to ensure the same buddy is available. This relationship is important in our program so that kids can learn to connect with their buddy, each other, and with God.

Please note that volunteers have a heart to meet the needs of your child and training is provided. However, not every volunteer is professionally licensed.

Sensory Room

Play Differently allows kids with special needs to play with a purpose in a therapeutic environment. At Pathfinder Church, families will experience a safe place, where parents can receive respite by attending worship, children can get regulation, and everyone can find connection and community.

Motor Area

The motor area is designed to help engage muscles and joints. This type of input can be very calming for those who are easily overwhelmed by sensory stimulation.

Teen Sensory Room

The Teen Sensory Room provides a calming corner and motor area for teens to regulate their sensory system. By breaking down sensory barriers, students are better able to make connections and grow deeper in their faith and relationship with God.
